Assistant Teacher Starr (Sidra Samuel)

Sidra Samuel better known as Starr, was introduced to dance at the tender age of 2 years. She danced with the Sunnydale Dancers and later with Alfa Dancers. Being quite precocious, she quite often performed with other dancers up to 5 years her senior. At about the age of 8 years she became involved in other childhood activities and placed dancing on a back burner.

In 2003, she was encouraged to perform at local show and thus her spark for dancing was rekindled. Ever since she has completely immersed herself in art form. It was also then that she became a member of the Verity Dance group.

Her passion, dedication and curiosity has driven her to explore several genres of dance.  To this end she enrolled herself in several classes throughout schools in the island.  Modern, contemporary, lyrical and classical ballroom, are amongst the genres she enjoys most, with Ballet & Pointe being her favorite.

By combining her love of dance and travel, she has performed in several islands across the region. The diversity of people, dance and teaching styles throughout the world are especially appealing to her and she hopes to continue to pursue both passions.

Presently, she is an assistant dance instructor at Verity dance group and enjoys sharing the love of the art form with children. Every child benefits from quality dance training and Long-term learning’s go far beyond practical applications in dance. Through teaching She believes that dance offers an opportunity to teach children the importance of being part of something larger than themselves .

Starr sees dance as a conversation between the body and soul. She believes with conviction that the ability to touch, to move and to inspire is the true gift of dance which should be shared with the world!
